Communicating with Impact Training (CWIT) was held for 100 PwC Isla Lipana & Co. Senior Consultants and Associates in four batches from June 16 to November 5, 2015 in Makati City, Philippines. Participants had to undergo a comprehensive six-session program to boost their confidence and competence in workplace communication focused on fundamentals of English grammar, usage, and oral communication skills.
The pilot batch of PwC Isla Lipana & Co. Senior Consultants and Associates underwent the six-session CWIT from June 16, 2015 to July 2, 2015. On the other hand, the second batch underwent CWIT from July 23, 2015 to August 20, 2015. The third and fourth batches had CWIT from September 29, 2015 to October 22, 2015 and from October 21, 2015 to November 5, 2015, respectively.
“The program was a good refresher course. It tackled topics that are applicable to the workplace setting. I especially appreciated that writing and speaking were covered in every session. It balanced theory and practice, coupled with immediate, well-placed feedback from the trainer,” Jo Ann Ocampo, one of the Senior Associates from the pilot batch, wrote.
“When given the option of taking another program by BIZCORE, I would be more than happy to inform my colleagues about participating in one. The skills that I have learned from “Communicating with Impact” such as proofreading, presenting, persuading, or facilitating can be immediately applied to my everyday job. These skills are helpful when I send emails to the clients, engage in conference calls, hold meetings with my colleagues, or prepare a written report about a project.” Sarinah Marie Narciso, a participant from the second batch, commented.
“I really enjoyed the program. All the topics discussed were equally important, but what I liked most are the group activities or the oral examination because those are the areas that I really need to improve (dealing with people and speaking in front of audience). I also enjoyed learning the different methods of communicating especially on giving feedback to staff. I think it will help me deliver effectively my feedback to the junior staff of the team,” mentioned one participant from the third batch.
“I have learned to express thoughts in a simpler and concise manner without affecting the message I want to convey,” another participant from the fourth batch said.
Prior the training, PwC Isla Lipana & Co. employees underwent a comprehensive English communication skills assessment as part of the training needs analysis.
